Make It Meme Alternatives: Meme Games Compared (Checked October 23, 2026)

We Meme, Cap That, Meme It!, Meme Party and Lore next to Make it Meme, with every fact taken from an official page and dated.

Disclosure: We make Lore, the meme app for your group chat, one of the options below, so we hold it to the same rules as the rest: official pages only, dated, no rankings.

The short answer

  • Another round-based caption game: We Meme in the browser, or Cap That for private rooms of 3 to 10.
  • A battle on an Android phone: Meme It!, with code or QR joining.
  • A slower, asynchronous option: Lore (ours), where people post and vote whenever they open it.

How we checked

We read each product’s own site or store listing on October 23, 2026. We sampled no reviews, so there are no ratings and no “best” here. Prices appear only where a page states them; everything else says “not stated”. We did not play every game for hours. We report what each page says it does, and pages change, so open the linked source before you commit. For a broader roundup, see meme games to play with friends.

Make It Meme, the baseline

Rounds are timed. Players get a meme template and a short timer to write a caption, all captions are shown, and everyone votes. Votes become points, and the most points after the final round wins. You can start a private game by code or invite link, or join public lobbies. There are no bots and no single-player. Modes are Normal, Topics, Same Meme and Relaxed (no points), and there is a Family-Friendly Mode. An account is optional; it unlocks friends, stats, achievements and custom templates or packs. We Meme

Create a room and share the link. You choose 5, 10 or 15 rounds. Default timers are 40 seconds to think, 45 seconds to vote and 10 seconds to laugh. Everyone captions the same photo and votes by clicking a caption, and votes add to the caption author’s score. A leaderboard page exists. Sources: we-meme.io, about page.

Cap That

Private rooms use a code and hold 3 to 10 players. Each round everyone captions a meme and a rotating judge picks the winner; the most points after all rounds wins. Photos can be uploaded from the camera roll, and winning memes save to the photo library. A separate solo mode, Meme of the Day, gives one new meme daily to caption and vote on, with a daily leaderboard. The App Store lists an age rating of 16+, and the homepage shows no Google Play link. Meme It! and Meme Party

Meme It! (by Bathlane) is an Android app that pairs a meme maker with a multiplayer meme battle: join with a code or QR code, chat in the lobby, create memes, vote, and finish with a podium. You can import your own images and save or share memes. Google Play lists ads and in-app purchases, with no amounts. Source: Google Play listing.

Meme Party describes itself as a live meme party game for friends, with a Discord community and a weekly live stream. The page we read did not describe the rules or a price. Source: memeparty.fun.

Lore

We make Lore. It runs in the browser today, and the iPhone and Android apps are coming soon. It is asynchronous: make a meme from one of 10 built-in formats, then everyone swipes right to laugh, left to pass or up to crown (3 crowns a day). A daily battle is crowned at 9pm on each phone. It is free to play, and you join with a name, no email or password.

It has no live rounds, no timers and no photo upload, and the browser version cannot save a meme image. Pick something else if you want timed live rounds, your own photos or an app-store app today. One more limit, checked October 23, 2026: in the current browser version a room may stay on the phone that made it, so check that a friend can see your meme before you plan a game around it.

If you want to make memes, not play a game

Two tools make memes but are not multiplayer games. Imgflip lets you pick a template or upload your own image and add text. Its generator page says free output can carry an imgflip.com watermark and ads; Pro Basic removes both and Pro adds GIF features. Pro Basic is listed at 4.95 a month billed yearly or 5.95 monthly, and Pro at 11.95 billed yearly or 14.95 monthly. We did not record the currency symbol, so check the page. Mematic turns photos into memes, collages and designs on iPhone and Android. Its homepage does not state a price. Source: mematic.com.
